User guide

This guide explains the main KIS Darts features for tournament creators, admins, and players. Add screenshots beside each section when ready.

1) Create a tournament

Open Create Tournament to set up a new event. This is where you define how your competition will run before any matches are played.

Type and format: choose the tournament style (for example knockout, league, or round robin).

Tournament details: enter name, date, location, and any notes so players can identify the event easily.

Players: you can add players immediately or save first and add them later. This is useful if registrations are still coming in.

Game mode: game mode controls how matches are played and the format used for tournament progression.

Scoring: choose how match outcomes are recorded. In-app scoring uses KIS Darts to enter scores and automate progression. Manual scoring is done offline, and only the final match results need to be entered in KIS Darts.

Knockout settings: with seeded draw off, the first round is random when Start Tournament is initiated. When seeded draw is on, you can set player seed order by moving players up or down the player list.
When manual first-round pairing is not selected, the first-round bracket is created randomly by KIS Darts.
If manual first-round pairing is selected, you set the first-round bracket manually by pairing players in each match.

Round Robin settings: choose how many groups the player list is divided into and how many times each player plays the others (matches per pairing). You can create knockout finals after the group stage if required, and select how many players from each group advance to knockout finals. You can also choose whether to play all legs in each match, or end the match once winning criteria is reached (for example, in best of 3 you can play all 3 legs, or end when a player reaches 2: 2-0 or 2-1). Points can be awarded on a win basis or on a legs basis (for example, one point per leg won).

2) Find tournament

Click Find Tournament and enter the tournament code to view the matches and bracket. The tournament creator will share this code with players/viewers.

3) Set round lengths

Round length controls how long each match stage is (for example number of legs or race length). Set this before starting to keep match rules consistent.

Round lengths can be updated from the Bracket screen or from the Admin screen, depending on your workflow during setup or live play.

Round lengths can be adjusted up until any match in that round begins scoring. Once scoring has started, the match length for that round can no longer be changed.

You can configure round lengths globally or per round (where supported), such as longer finals and shorter early rounds.

4) Start tournament

Use Start Tournament only when setup is complete. Starting locks in core structure and generates active fixtures/brackets for play.

Before starting, make sure you have finished adding players. Late player changes are usually restricted once the tournament is live.

5) View bracket

The bracket screen shows current progress, upcoming fixtures, and completed results. Use it to track who advances each round.

If manual first-round pairings was selected during setup, you can create the bracket yourself after Start Tournament has been selected.

As scores are entered, bracket paths update automatically so players and viewers can follow the tournament in real time.

6) Generate board marker codes

Board marker codes are unique identifiers used to assign or verify match boards during an event. Generate codes from the tournament tools/admin area before or during play.

Board marker codes can be used without signing in. Select the Mark a board (no account) option, then enter the tournament code to access the tournament and select the relevant board. Enter the board code to control the marking for that board.

The board marker code provides marker-only privileges. If needed, an admin can switch or release those marker privileges at any time.

How they are used:

7) Use the boards screen

The boards screen gives a live overview of board status and assignments. You can open an individual board in full-screen mode for clearer viewing at the venue.

Automatically assigning boards will queue all games for that round across all boards to run one after the other, with no manual updating or board setting required.

Once assigned, matches can be removed and set to other boards by admin as required.

8) Players tab

The Players tab lists entrants linked to the tournament. Depending on event state and permissions, you can review player names, statuses, and participation details.

Use this screen to confirm registrations and ensure the correct players are included before tournament start.

9) Stats screen

Players averages per round and overall are recorded here.

10) Admin functions (creators)

Tournament creators and admins have access to setup and control features that regular users do not.

Tournament creators can add other people as admins to help run the tournament by entering the email address they use on KIS Darts.

Typical admin actions include:

Share admin access carefully, as these controls can directly affect live matches and tournament outcomes.
